Our Story
Long Distance
From the very beginning of their relationship, Kannin and Adriana knew college would take them in different directions. Adriana had always dreamed of attending Florida State University, while Kannin planned to stay closer to home and attend the University of South Florida. Though they knew then that long distance wouldn't be easy, they also knew their relationship was worth fighting for.
On the last day of high school, Kannin took Adriana back to Pine Island, the same place where he had asked her to be his girlfriend. Yet, this time he had something even more meaningful. He gave her a promise ring and made two promises that day. The first being that he would stand by her side as she chased her dreams, and the second that one day, he would make her his wife.
Just a few months after this, in the summer of 2023, their long-distance journey officially began.
There were long drives, late-night FaceTimes, countdowns until the next visit, and plenty of goodbyes that never got any easier. But no matter the distance, Kannin and Adriana always found their way back to each other. Additionally, being apart taught them to cherish every moment they had together and grow not only as a couple but as individuals.
To this day, some of Kannin and Adriana's favorite memories came from the weekends they spent together while long distance. These memories include cheering at baseball games at both FSU and USF, experiencing the excitement of a Banana Ball game, and creating adventures wherever they happened to be.
By the spring of 2026, Kannin had fulfilled both promises he made on that day at Pine Island. In March, he got down on one knee and asked Adriana to spend forever with him. Just two months later, he proudly watched her walk across the stage at Florida State University to receive the diploma she had worked so hard for.
How We Met
During their junior year of high school, Kannin and Adriana were both assigned to the same group project—or at least, that's what most people assume. In reality, Kannin was paired with one of Adriana's best friends. When she was absent on the day of the presentation, she asked Adriana to check in with Kannin and make sure he had everything he needed. While the conversation was simple and did not last long, this was just the start of their story.
Not long after, Kannin decided to reach out to Adriana. She may have left him waiting for two weeks (yes, you read that right, two whole weeks!), but everything changed after Adriana attended a high school baseball game that Kannin was a part of. That night, Adriana finally replied, and one conversation led to another. Before they knew it, Kannin and Adriana were talking every day, discovering how much they had in common including both having Jeeps and loving the beach.
As the weeks passed, those conversations turned into a friendship, and that friendship began to grow into something more.
Then came prom night.
Towards the end of the night, Kannin asked Adriana to share a slow dance. Though it was just one dance, it was enough for both of them to realize there was something special there. That moment marked the beginning of a love that would continue to grow over the years.
Every love story has a beginning. And sometines a simple conversation, a baseball game, and one unforgettable dance is all it takes to reach forever.
About a month after prom, Kannin found out that Adriana had never been to a fair. He couldn't believe it, so he decided to plan a date starting at his aunt's birthday party and ending at the fair to change that.
The date began with beach volleyball, Adriana's favorite sport, where she got to meet Kannin's family for the first time and play alongside them. It was the perfect way to spend the afternoon, and everything seemed to be going exactly as planned.
Well... almost.
On the way to the fair, Kannin's car broke down. Though this moment could have ended the date, instead the pair still made it to fair and this became part of the story they still laugh about today. To make matters even better when Kannin and Adriana finally arrived, a woman leaving the fair walked up and offered them her wristbands for free.
From there, the night was nothing but fun. Kannin and Adriana spent hours riding rides, playing games, and getting to know each other even more. Before the night ended, Kannin led Adriana onto the Ferris wheel. And as they reached the very top, surrounded by the glow of the fair lights, they shared their very first kiss.
Looking back, it's funny how a car breaking down became one of the most memorable parts of the day. It still serves as a reminder that even when things don't go according to plan, the best memories can come from the unexpected. Not to mention that to this day, this date still feels like something out of a movie.
Our First Kiss
Spring Break of 2026 was supposed to be a chance for Adriana to come home from Florida State and spend time with Kannin. What she didn't know was that, for weeks leading up to her visit, Kannin had been secretly shopping for the perfect ring and planning a proposal she would never see coming.
To keep the surprise, Kannin told Adriana his sister was taking photos for prom, and asked her to join. The plan was simple, yet that day brought unexpected challenges including Adriana struggling to find something to wear. However, despite it all they made it to Southern Hills, where the photographer was waiting.
After taking plenty of prom photos, the photographer casually mentioned that there was still some time left and asked if Kannin and Adriana wanted to take a few pictures together. Since their four-year anniversary was just around the corner, Adriana thought it sounded like a great idea. She had no idea the photographer was part of the plan all along.
The three of them walked down a beautiful path and began taking what seemed like ordinary couple's photos. Then the photographer suggested a specific pose with Adriana facing the camera while Kannin stood behind her, looking at her. After snapping a few pictures in this pose, the photographer asked Adriana to turn around and face Kannin.
In that moment everything changed. Standing before her was Kannin down on one knee with her dream ring. Time seemed to stand still. Through happy tears and complete disbelief, Adriana kept saying, "You're joking!" But once the shock wore off, there was only one answer.
Yes!
Surrounded by the people who helped make it happen and captured forever in photographs, Kannin and Adriana took the first step towards the start of forever.
